Word Pool

Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-08-05

Word Pool does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other detail that identifies you. There are no accounts and no sign-in.

In upcoming versions, two things would leave your device: the topics you type when generating a puzzle, and a cryptographic check that confirms the app is a genuine, unmodified copy. Neither would be tied to your identity.

We do not sell data, we do not show advertising, and we do not use third-party analytics or tracking.

What leaves your device

Information we handle (starting v2.0)

Topics you type

When you generate a puzzle from a topic, that text is sent to our server and forwarded to Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, which returns a list of related words. The topic is used for that request and is not stored afterward. It is not linked to you or to your device.

Because topics are processed by a third-party service, please do not type personal or sensitive information into the topic field.

App verification data

To stop automated abuse of the puzzle service, the app proves it is a genuine installation before each request:

Technical information

Our servers record the network address a request came from, along with the time and outcome, in order to apply rate limits and diagnose faults. These records are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically.

Information kept only on your device

Your best times, settings, and game progress are stored on your device and are never uploaded. Deleting the app removes them.

Third parties

Who processes data for us

Provider What they handle Where
Microsoft Azure Hosting, logging, and the language model that generates word lists United States
Apple App Attest verification (iOS only) Apple's infrastructure
Google Play Integrity verification (Android only) Google's infrastructure

These providers act on our instructions. We do not share data with anyone else, and we do not sell or rent it under any circumstances.

Younger players

Children

Word Pool is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because the app has no accounts and collects no identifying details, there is nothing for a parent to request the deletion of. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the topic field, contact us and we will look into it.

Access and deletion

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information a company holds about you, and to object to certain processing.

Because we hold no information that identifies you, there is usually nothing for us to retrieve or erase. Uninstalling the app removes everything stored locally. If you want to exercise a right or have a question about how this works, contact us at the address below.

How it is protected

Security

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Requests are rejected unless they come from a verified installation of the app. Credentials and configuration are stored in Azure Key Vault, and access is limited to the systems that need it.

No system is perfectly secure, but the amount of information we hold is small by design, which limits what any breach could expose.

Revisions

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that materially affects how information is handled, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app before it takes effect.
