Press on the first letter and drag to the last one. Words run in any direction — across, down, diagonally, and backwards — and the trail highlights as you go. Lift your finger to confirm.

If a selection doesn't take, check that the first and last letters line up in a straight line. Only rows, columns, and 45-degree diagonals count.

Practice has no clock. Clear a grid and the next one appears automatically, so you can play for as long as you like.

Timer gives you one grid against a countdown. Finish it and you'll see your time, along with whether it beat your best.

Multiplayer pairs you with another player on the same grid. First to find every word wins.

Puzzle topics are generated on our servers, which is why the game needs a connection to deal a new grid. Each topic produces a fresh set of words, so grids don't repeat.

If a word list ever looks wrong — a misspelling, something off-topic, or anything inappropriate — please send it to us. Include the topic name and we'll take a look.

The grid you're currently on keeps working, but generating a new one needs a connection. If you see an error when a fresh grid should appear, check your connection and try again.

There's no account and no sign-in. Your best times and settings are stored on the device you played on, which means they don't transfer to another device and are removed if you delete the app.

Matchmaking pairs you with whoever else is looking at that moment, so waits are longer when few people are playing. You can leave the queue at any time using the button on the waiting screen or the back arrow.

This is nearly always a connection problem. Check that you're online, then close and reopen the app. If it persists on a connection you know is working, write to us with your device model and iOS version.

Times are only recorded when you clear the whole grid before the clock runs out. A round that ends on the countdown isn't scored. Best times are also kept per round length, so a three-minute record won't show up next to a five-minute one.

Reopening usually resolves it. If it keeps happening, please tell us what you were doing at the time — which mode, and whether it was mid-puzzle or on a menu. That detail is usually enough to find the cause.

Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device. Nothing about you is kept on our servers, so there's nothing further to request. The privacy policy explains this in full.
